highest standards of Northampton's shoemaking tradition.
The company
Cut by hand from the finest calfskins, each pair of Edward Green shoes is made in our Northampton workshop according to the same principles that have guided us for over a century. Edward Green was a man with a singular passion for shoes. He
established his workshop in Northampton in 1890, drawing together a team of the most illustrious craftsmen and sourcing the best materials for them to work with.
“Excellence without compromise,” was his promise and soon his name became associated with the finest Goodyear welted footwear, chosen by style icons from Ernest Hemingway to Edward, Duke of Windsor.
These men and many others like them epitomise what Edward Green shoes represent: elegant, quintessentially English footwear worn by gentlemen of distinction, charm and wit. Men who understand the value of tradition yet thrive on a sense of
adventure. Today we continue to strive to make the best shoes possible, refining and improving our process, but always taking our time to ensure each pair of shoes is fit to bear our founder’s name and dress another generation of men who truly appreciate the
difference.
Edward Green is renowned for their antiqued calfskins, with layer upon layer of careful handwork creating a rich and characteristic patina across the shoe. This year, classic models - such as the Dover and Piccadilly loafer, have been introduced in London Grain,
a supple tumbled calf leather which fits well with the move to softer textures in tailoring. Our soles are tanned for nine months in a solution of oak, spruce and mimosa barks for an unequalled comfort and durability. And after being sewn to the shoe, the sole is bevelled to create a more refined finish. Shoes can be re-crafted again and again, and sometimes last decades - testament to the value of products made with care and integrity.
No detail is missed. And it's that combination of excellence and quintessentially English style that has served the company well internationally. Over 80% of production is now exported with key markets including the US and Japan, where the company has
recently opened a Tokyo flagship store, joining those in London and Paris. We offer an unrivaled stock of widths and last shapes, allowing customers to find a fitting that is ideal for their own feet. Our small scale production allows us flexibility in meeting Made-to-Order
requests. After more than a century at the pinnacle of shoemaking, Edward Green continues to evolve, with new lasts and patterns introduced, but the core stays the same – elegant, quintessentially English footwear worn by gentlemen of distinction, charm and wit.
