Brand Profile
We founded 209 Mare in 2016 in order to elevate beachwear, by inspiring ourselves in an understated Riviera-esque lifestyle. Our story takes place during the Golden Age of the magnificent Cote d’Azur.
Our central idea of sophisticated beachwear revolved around the terry towel Beach Blazer. Based out of Monte-Carlo, brothers Gabriel and Federico Uribe with a massive determination of commercializing this product would drive over 40 thousand kilometers through all of northern Italy in their first year alone. The two travelled in true European fashion in a Fiat 500 filled to the brim with fabric and trim samples along with their loyal rescue dog.
After a year and a half of making dozens of samples and visiting countless fairs and trade shows, the Beach Blazer was born and later launched during the 2017 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monte-Carlo. Its composition was a blend of deluxe fabrics like French Velvet and Italian bamboo terry towel.
Ever infatuated with the understated elegance of the French Riviera, at 209 Mare we believe that beachwear has a life and soul beyond the beach. Reinstating elegance, embracing craftsmanship with garments that touch the senses. Today we focus on creating timeless investment pieces.
Our muses being Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Steve McQueen, James Delon, Aristotle Onassis, and Salvador Dali were living proof of the effortless elegance that defined this epoch.
We put the emphasis on the pursuit of perfection through lush fabrics, the highest standards of craftsmanship and careful attention to detail. Our garments are meant to be worn summer after summer.
Inspiration
Our inspiration lies with combining the beautiful fabrics Italy has to offer, with the understated yet elegant lifestyle of the French Riviera during its heyday in the 70’s. 209 Mare creates timeless investment pieces that focus on quality, fit and functionality. We are on a mission to elevate beachwear to a new level of sophistication and style - hence our core product: The terry towel Beach Blazer. Follow us on our journey back to the days when Steve McQueen and Bridgette Bardot would roam the Côte d’Azur in effortless style and elegance.
