Brand Profile
Chikatai is a small sustainable enterprise. We create musical toys and décor items for infants and toddlers. All our products are made of certified materials in compliance with international standards.
Chikatai appeared in 2017 on Georgian market. It is a family business started from home but shortly found its success and moved in a small workshop in the city center. We created the first Georgian soft toy with wonderful Georgian melody by an outstanding Georgian composer Giya Kancheli.
In 2020 Chikatai became the member of UN Global Compact Network and in the same year won the biggest business award in our country – TBC Business Awards 2020 for the Special CSR.
Sustainability became the core component of our brand philosophy – We make friends, care and preserve nature and its inhabitants and this is the driving force of Chikatai. In textile business, it is impossible to produce products with zero waste. Little details of our toys give us the possibility to use most of the fabrics on cutting stage. It was not enough for us so we collect our final leftovers and send them in textile recycling company where they find a new life. One more thing that we try to be very careful with is overproduction. This is why we produce mostly upon request and not overload our stocks.
To express our commitment, as a responsible brand, we created sustainable line of products which corresponds to goal 12 (Ressponsible consumption and production) and goal 17 (Partnership for the goals). "Little steps matter" – in the framework of this cooperation, we use fabric leftovers of the baby brand "Spilow" and “Eshvi Kids and create new products with their waste which was indented to end up in trash. Main aim was to reduce pre-consumer waste and raise awareness about the importance of the issue.
Our latest project also resonates to the Goal 12 but this time, it deals with post-consumer waste. Toy Hospital - children have an opportunity to get the real life experience of taking care of their beloved toys and at the same time, we explain why this kind of action matters and how it positively impacts the environment we live in. It is a kind of a role play which at the same time educates them. Consumers are able to bring their damaged soft toys and we will fix them regardless of the brand. Any soft toy will be fixed by our Toy hospital doctor to prolong the lifecycle of the product and avoid buying a new one. We believe that this project will help parents share the right values with their children and this little role-play will have positive impact on forming a right mindset and responsible attitude of the new generation. As “we all come from our childhood”, we find it very important to deliver the main message “Caring Matters” to the youngest members of our society in a most playful manner, in order to get more responsible generation in the future.
We have one more important line of product which we are proud of - Collaboration with Art Palace of Georgia and TBC Bank gave us an opportunity to make a new line of products - REVIVAL OF OLD GEORGIAN FABRIC PRINTS. Cultural heritage is the greatest treasure. One of the most powerful tools for its preservation is the modern interpretation of antiquity. The past, which is harmoniously connected with our daily life, indicates that the heritage will continue to exist in the future.
