A brand based on traditional French know-how
At the end of the 19th century, M. François Bayon, then a military tailor, created an invisible corset that improved the silhouette of French soldiers. This changed the life of the future entrepreneur. A true innovation, his belt met with great success and encouraged M. Bayon, a fervent Bonapartist, to create his own brand in 1889. The brand carries the imperial eagle in homage to the son of Napoleon I: Napoleon II, known as L’Aiglon. This nickname, analogous to his father’s nickname, the Eagle, comes from the poems of Victor Hugo. L’Aiglon became the signature of belts and refined accessories for men. Steeped in history, the brand has ever since evoked strength, success, style and refinement. The history of L’Aiglon, which gives it its special character today, includes many trips undertaken in 1930 in America, the Middle East and Asia. Among the first French brands to export goods to Japan, L’Aiglon went out to meet the men of the world and cultivate a spirit of conquest and adventure, in search of exotic refinement and universal elegance.
Innovation at the heart of the brand’s DNA
Innovation has remained central to the life of the brand since its foundation in 1889. L’Aiglon’s designs have often led the way in the modernisation of luxury accessories. Le Bord Zéro, the Zero Edge, was invented by L’Aiglon: the art of obtaining edges whose fineness is reduced to a single, simple line. The craftsman’s expert hand dexterously guides the belt along its length, first one side, then the other. This new technique does not allow for any mistakes. The braiding of leather and textiles, skiving techniques for leather, the cladding of buckles... The brand has remained at the forefront of both know-‐how and trends.
L’Aiglon a way of life
L’Aiglon has remained true to its values and evolved over time, anticipating changing fashions and continually offering new trends. Their craftsmen remain at the heart of their designs. Their passion and their high standards, combined with the creativity of their design teams, are the key elements in this unique and authentic interpretation of the belt and of French men’s accessories.
Made in France and making by hand are at the heart of production
L’Aiglon’s know-‐how and tradition make them an international reference for top-‐of-‐ the-‐range men’s belts. L’Aiglon offers a large collection of belts, from the most classic to the most innovative, made by experienced craftsmen in their French workshops: they select materials that meet ecological standards, cutting leather and textiles, trimming the points to the desired shape, braiding, hand or machine top-‐stitching, creating belt fastenings... Each stage of a belt’s manufacture reinterprets the inheritance of the years. A French and independent company, L’Aiglon offers three ranges of belts: hand-‐braided belts, the leather and textile Collection, and the Excellence range. Their professional expertise and the production of all their models in their French workshops give L’Aiglon an important competitive advantage in terms of quality and responsiveness.
L’Aiglon of the world
The L’Aiglon brand now has a presence in all the four corners of the world through an exclusive distribution network: department stores (Le Printemps, Harvey Nichols), concept stores and high-‐quality multi-‐brand boutiques. Exhibiting every year at Pitti Uomo in Florence, the world’s most important fashion show for men’s wear, each season L’Aiglon presents its new collections to buyers from all around the world.
