Brand Profile
Anthony Peto, hat designer for men and women, seeks to make hat wearing fun again. By updating traditional forms and using new fabrics and colours, his hats appeal to a young, adventurous market, confident enough to wear striking, often eccentric hats in the street, and to bars and nightclubs. All models can be worn by either sex. Current hats tend to be small and easily wearable. The shapes can be trilby, berets, chapkas, panamas, legionnaire’s caps, tricorns, top hats, bowler hats, aviators hats, fez’s, toques with imitation dreadlocks, tie and dye riding caps, the list is endless. The designer, Anthony Peto, was born in London and led a varied life before turning to hat design, setting up a theatre group, editing an art magazine and organising charity balls nightclub events and parties. On moving to Paris in 1986, he teamed up with Marie Mercié to form what became France’s best known women’s hat company. Anthony Peto hats began in 1992 and are produced by the same company.
