Xacus’ SS22 collection revives the tailored shirt as a classic yet fresh menswear staple

Exhibitors Spotlight focuses on a selection of brands exhibiting at this year's Pitti Uomo, showcasing their upcoming collections and special upcoming projects.

The slowed pace of the past year has brought about the resurgence of a number of classic staple items, from accessories to formal and sportswear. Evidently, as our lifestyle and everyday schedules have become stripped of all frills and unnecessary complications, so have our wardrobes: indeed, ‘simplicity’ seems to have become the word du jour, particularly applicable to the newest trends and directions steering contemporary menswear.

Italian shirt manufacturer Xacus has certainly demonstrated the tendency. Founded in 1956 in the Northern Italian town of San Vito di Leguzzano, Xacus takes its name from founder Alberto Xoccato. A craftsman at heart and in practice, Xoccato started his journey in menswear style by devoting himself to the intricate and noble tradition of men’s shirt-making.
For nearly six decades, the label excelled at its proposed mission, and in 2014 it branched out with its first line of womenswear.

For their SS22 collection on display at this year’s Pitti Immagine Uomo, Xacus are celebrating their roots whilst looking to the future and being mindful of the present. Prioritizing excellence and superlative quality in fabrics as well as design, the collection fuses tradition and innovation in a mix of classic tailoring and modern cuts that speak of a transversal, multi-faceted ethos, suitable for different market needs and in tune with lovers of refined, subdued luxury across the globe.

The SS22 represents an ode to the decade-long tradition of Italian shirt-making — a craft of which Xacus has long endured as an undisputed figurehead. It tells the story of a past modernized with a contemporary pattern and color palette, as well as a very current concern for comfort, particularly visible in the brand’s Legacy capsule: a line designed using softer, more comfortable fabrics such as silk, and finishing touches such as mother-of-pearl buttons.

Never fearful of experimentation, the brand’s Active part of the SS22 collection, plays with textural overlap and the use of floral prints, combining the joyful summery look of a Hawaiian shirt, in raw and textured canvas paired with technical jersey made from a mix of polyamide and elastane.

From sporty-casual to classic elegance with a contemporary edge, Xacus continues to position itself as a reference in the world of modern menswear tailoring.
