AlphaTauri’s SS22 collection combines premium, versatile textile innovation, and a classic inspiration

If the stringent tightening of our range of motion over the past year has certainly led to hardship and stagnation, it’s also led to boosted inventiveness — from rethinking our personal and professional spaces, the design of our homes, or the purposes and uses of our wardrobe essentials, or simply our consumer habits, any valuable purchase needs to moonlight as something else, for the sake of sustainability, ease, and functionality.
Adhering to the motto “fits body and mind”, premium fashion brand AlphaTauri is no stranger to the mission of designing multipurpose garments. Branching out of Red Bull, and paving its very own way within the clothing industry, the Salzburg-based brand blends fashion and function by collaborating with global experts in utilizing imaginative design, premium materials and top textile innovation such as the TAUROBRAN — an waterproof yet breathable 3-layer membrane. Constantly seeking to endow each piece with a multiplicity of functions and a profound versatility, the Austrian brand stands by its promise.
For SS22, the label introduced fresh fabrications, further strengthening its use of the Taurobran textile technology, upgrading the patented 3-layer membrane with a lightweight cotton-touch fabric for the iconic Koov and Kaav Parkas, as well as on a second ultra-soft outerwear fabric, adding further styles to the offering. Designed to accommodate the ultimate transitional wardrobe, AlphaTauri’s 3D-Knit collection has also been expanded this season, now proposing a selection of four different yarn qualities, including a luxury cashmere blend.
With a bright, buoyant color palette and clean design, AlphaTauri’s latest collection drew conceptual inspiration from the minimalist aesthetic of Finnish modernist architect Alvar Aalto.
“Our key focus when designing this collection was colour and shape, and considering how the two elements engage with each other,” says AlphaTauri head designer Mikyong Yeom. “Taking inspiration from the clean lines of architecture, as seen in Aalto’s iconic work, the styles in this collection combine a minimal aesthetic with fresh colors and prints. The contrast between this combination results in a refreshed and modern collection.” A modern, versatile and multifunctional collection with a classic inspiration does well at condensing the design mood of the season.
