Brand Profile
Sparti’s hats are aimed for open-minded, passionate and stylish women. Sparti Linardaki studied in Paris, lived in Los Angeles, worked in Hollywood and returned to Athens, transforming her experiences into her work. Sparti was born in the famous from ancient times Greek city of Sparta, where she gained her name. From a young age she had an enormous passion for design. This led her to steer towards her studies of graphic design at E.S.A.M school in Paris. Upon her return to Athens she immediately began work as the leading Art Director of many popular lifestyle magazines. Later she moved to Los Angeles where she quickly emerged into the film industry. She began working with some of the top costume designers in the film industry such as, Rosanna Norton, Joseph A. Porro, and Salvador Perez for the films: Flinstones, Stargate, Power Rangers, and Slow Burn. Many of Sparti’s designs have been worn by some of Hollywood’s top celebrities such as, Britney Spears, Lil Kim, Jennifer Beals, Tracey Edmond, Milla Jovovich, Paula Abdul, and the music group 3rd Storee. Her work has been displayed in three issues of the well-known InStyle Magazine in America while in 2004 Guess company used one of her designs -a hand designed and painted corset- for its annual campaign.
Sparti began designing hats for her own pleasure and this quickly led to her creating a large collection of hats. A hat for her is considered one of the must have accessories. One day she was looking at an untouched hat and decided it was time to intervene with her designs and turn it into something completely personal, and that’s how it all began. But the greatest confirmation of her work came when her friends immediately loved her hats and quickly wanted one themselves. After that, she was certain that her hats were desired, so she decided to use her years of knowledge in graphic design and started designing her characteristic geometric shapes and ethnic symbols therefore creating her first actual collection of Sparti Handmade. The individuality of her work comes from her technique, her “secret recipe” if you may, and the materials she uses, which are often imported from Los Angeles in order to create the final product. Her main philosophy behind Sparti Handmade is that she creates designs that represent her as a person and that she would actually wear herself.
