“Forbidden Botanicals” by Extra Virgo
The Royal family of the mysterious and exotic Burma, today Myanmar, also takes part in this edition of Pitti Fragranze 2022, through its last descendant: Prince Ne Min Gi of the Limbin Royal House, granddaughter of the mythical Princess Yadana nat Mai, Goddess of the nine jewels (whose biography has just been published publishing house) and descendant of the last king of Burma, King Mindon, presents his collection "Forbidden Botanicals" with the EXTRA VIRGO brand.
A family of fragrances with ancient and rebellious botanical protagonists, as sensual as they are controversial. Ingredients that in human history have been both medicine and poison, sacred and profane. Cannabis, Mushrooms, Tobacco, Cocoa and Coffee, five elixirs created using only rare raw materials of excellent quality, with very high concentrations of Natural components carefully selected by small producers and master extractors.
Many of these ingredients come from the Prince's secret oases, hidden paradises, his wild abodes where he can find peace and inspiration. One of these is the Castle of Montecucchi, a Florentine estate that he has chosen as a laboratory to create his collection of fragrances, also transported into precious hand-made incenses.
Five enveloping, narcotic, animalic fragrances, a nobility with Maudit touches, created by the Prince with the collaboration of master perfumers Michele Marin and Sileno Cheloni.
"It is an honor to be able to learn from masters of this caliber. Thanks to them we were able to create something special that I had been working on for a long time. Something that is much more than the sum of its parts. Despite my love for botany and perfumery, I would never have been able to reach such high levels without the incredible skills and knowledge of my masters."
Prince Limbin's passion for plants runs through his veins. His ancestors have always been devoted to nature and its sacred value on the spirit and the body. His great-grandfather, Herbert Bellamy, had one of the most famous orchid gardens, in Burma, while his grandmother, who through an extraordinary and adventurous life landed in Italy where the Prince was born and raised, instilled in him a deep love for plants and the secrets they contain:
"I grew up with my Grandmother, a Buddhist and Animist (primordial cult that venerates the spirit in everything natural), she has always taught me the importance and respect for simplicity, which in nature finds its greatest elegance. Plants, their smells, their tastes, can be medicine, poison, delight, damnation. They are an earthly manifestation of the Gods and their perfume is their soul. "
The philosophy where plants are the solution, both in cultivation and in their use, for the awakening of the soul, is the foundation of Burmese culture. A country that today unfortunately finds itself again in a situation of violent dictatorship
"It is very sad to see a country of such beauty and kindness being overshadowed by violence. I believe the best thing I can do is to show peace, compassion and beauty. Through the teachings of nature that unites us all. I would like my perfumes to be a message of Peace, of Love. "
"I'm only attracted to perfumes that make you want to eat them .. like kissing someone you love"
