Brand Profile
At Koku we value the future of our children and our planet, just as we do the welfare of each and every one of those that contribute to the creation of our garments. All our production takes place in Tenerife (Canary Islands), where we live. We are fortunate enough to know each and every one of the people that assemble our garments, who also form part of a labour integration project, most of whose workers are living with a disability.
All these families represent us, and we are fully aware of the broad meaning and value of this word; it is family which represents the protection of the environment and a healthy way of life. Therefore, in each collection we strive to minimise the impact that the manufacturing of our products might cause on the environment.
We are passionate about the protection of the environment and promoting healthy life choices. We look after the whole creative processes, from the design of the prints to the selection of materials. All the raw materials we employ are certified: OEKO-TEX, Global Recycled Standard, OCS 100, OCS Blended.
Steeped in a sustainability DNA, we create garments with organic materials, exploring the use of new materials such as recycled fibres or other fibres of lesser impact on the environment. Our textiles (Ecowave) are manufactured with SEAQUAL and other 100% recycled spinning. In addition, both the lycra and the PES with which we create each of our designs are produced with recycled threads made from plastic bottles and residues collected from the Mediterranean Sea.
We design and select carefully the materials so that all our garments last longer and can be passed down through the generations – siblings, cousins, friends,…
When selecting a swimming costume for children, we think it’s essential to consider textile materials that are fast drying and provide UPF +50 protection, allowing the kids to carry on playing comfortably outside the water.
